Z and I have moved to Castaic, California! We were presented with an opportunity to check out sweet new digs in California so during the last week of April 2017 we packed up our apartment in Greeley and made the trek to California!
Unlike our short-lived move to Bullhead City, Arizona a couple years back, we are loving this place. It’s warm here, but not miserable. There’s so much to do here it’s hard to imagine that we’ll ever get around to seeing all the sites and doing all the things we want to do. ^_^
We’ve been here for 2 months and the most notable change in our living pattern is that we now get almost all of our food from local farmers. Instead of shopping for our produce at the store we visit two farmers markets every week that supply us with all the super fresh produce we need. It’s awesome! We are very quickly learning what is and is not in season.
Another major change having moved from Colorado is that we now spend a considerable amount of time in, on or near water. Just last week I learned how to tear up the lake on a stand-up jet-ski which was great fun. Last weekend Z and I spent at Harbor Cove Beach in Ventura, CA where Keeda met salt water for the first time!
We still do a lot of hiking. Using, All-trails to find new trails, we’ve been able to start every weekend with an early hike! The terrain, foliage and wildlife is much different from Colorado. However, the vertical ascent is similar. Most of the trails we have hiked so far have crazy vertical climbs. ^_^ And to our delight, the trails are surprisingly vacant in the morning when it’s still cool.
All in all, this has been sweet and the forecast is beautiful! Soon we will be blessed with a child to enjoy this wonderful excursion we call life which will make it even more awesome! w00t!
